My Ugly Fingertips

It is well known that nails, not only help your fingertips look better but they are also functional. They help in holding things by keeping our fingertips strong enough without bending. Some people keep their nails well trimmed. Girls might like to grow it long and apply nail polish. However, if you ever happened to notice mine, which very few you might have, you'll find that they're rather ugly.

When muscle isn't supported properly by bones, it looks bad and doesn't function as it should. The same happens with my fingertips. It cut my nails, way too short. The finger muscles on the palm side, grow longer than the nails and cover the front of my nails, sometimes. So, I have muscle on the tip of my finger, rather than nails. No body wants to look ugly, be it face or fingertips, unless there is a gain.

Apple's latest butterfly keyboards have received criticism from fans around the world for being too shallow. Users were not able to know whether they pressed the button or not because there was barely any feedback. It is after this event that people across the world realised that feedback is important for touch typing.

I've started typing because of Grand Theft Auto game's cheat codes. I started with one finger on each hand. After about two weeks I found myself using two and sometimes three fingers. I started using four fingers without knowing it. That was the time when my brain mapped the locations of the keys to the letters. Then I started touch typing.

When I was in my first year, first semester, I built an application to test the typing speed of user. Many of them existed already but then that was the time I was exploring my coding skills. I was at speeds of about 240 characters per minute. To put it to perspective, the average Indian at that age would type at 140 to 150 characters per minute.

That ugly fingertip of mine, helps me give feedback when I type quick. Be it typing this blog or writing code in a programming contest, my fingers never let me down. I've seen girls who cut their nails to type fast and I always appreciate such people who put career before beauty. No matter what you are pursuing or what is your domain or work, you'll type in this era. So, its time for you check your fingertips and start putting them to use.

Tic Tac Amazon

Getting into any department of Amazon can be quite challenging, especially after considering the company's reputation and the competition it has for any role. When the drive happens on campus, the competition would be very limited since all the applicants are the students of the same batch. I'm someone who isn't that great at listening to classes or getting marks. The role offered, requires us to have a good knowledge and understanding of Operating Systems, Computer Networks and Programming. So, how did I crack it? Projects, Mission R&D and proper presentation. Though we have a lot of online tools that would design the resume with appropriate styles, I prefer doing it myself using the word document editor. The centre of attraction on my resume is the projects column cause it is the biggest one with eleven projects on it. No matter whatever role I'm being interviewed for, I've always been asked questions like "How did you find time to do all ...

My Story from Physics to Programming

I remember, when I was in school, my interest was in Physics. Many of my friends during intermediate suggested that I take Mechanical Engineering while my father who knew me well told me that I take Electrical and Electronics Engineering. There were days where I considered Aeronautical Engineering too. But I hated programming. I was first introduced to it in my ninth grade and I never understood the importance of it. We memorised the Java programs and put it on the paper in exams.    Today I'm a Computer Science and Engineering Student and I choose this branch on my own will. It was in seventh grade that I started liking physics. Earlier, I was interested in science because it seemed logical. One day in seventh grade, I started answering the problems in the class without knowing any formulas or proper definitions to understand them. It was kinematics. It was then that I understood that physics is not some formula-subsitute subject, it requires understand and imagi...

Successful People don't Limit Themselves to One Thing

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla sleeps at 1 AM, but still finds time to read and hit the gym. M S Dhoni is one of the most loved Cricket players in India also plays football. Almost every successful person isn't good at only the thing we know but at some other things too. This might seem strange to normal ones because most of us don't even strive to be successful what we are right now. But why multiple things? In order to do anything to its best, you need to commit yourself to it. It might be coding, grades or a startup. Once you commit yourself and you start working, no matter what you do, eat, sleep, drive, play, its the only thing that you will be thinking. You want to switch to do it at the very moment itself. But, we are humans and we cannot keep doing the same thing constantly, no matter how much you love it. You would probably hate to gossip either. It is in these situations that you want to something else. This 'something else' is either y...
