Half Read - Half Viewed

A couple of days ago, I re-posted a video on Facebook. The video showed a few number of methods on how electricity can be generated using simple magnets and similar tricks. Yesterday, a friend of mine messaged me on Facebook texting that the video is misleading and it has fake tricks that do not work. The conversation went on for about five minutes before he realised.

The video was originally posted by Mehdi Sadaghdar, an YouTube vlogger who posts electrical experiments' videos. That video was re-posted by UNILAD Tech page. In the beginning he clearly mentions that we have to watch this till the end to be able to make a solid conclusion. After about half the time in the video, he reveals the secrets behind all the tricks that he has done in the video. He wanted to create awareness among us so that we do not believe and share such fake tricks among ourselves.

This entire generation has lost the habit of reading. At least most of us have lost it. Then we shifted to videos. I personally hate watching videos because they are way too slow and I prefer reading the documentation or other material. Now, let's forget reading. Watching a video till the end has also become a pain before making a statement.

Though most of us do not accept, the truth is, a lot of us do many things with half knowledge. Reading half the article, watching half the video, listening to half the class. This is dangerous. Either do it completely or don't do it at all. Anyway we aren't reading, what if we do not even watch videos till the end? We are failing to self-learn. Though the education system is failing, do you realise you are a part of it?

Lets make biriyani now. Put all the ingredients into a cooker and lit the stove. Minutes later you will open your cooker and find something that is not biriyani. Why? because there is a procedure and timing that we are supposed to follow and we didn't. The same with the student. Put all the students together into a class and start the lecture. Minutes later we notice half the class sleeping. Did we ever ask ourself why even the most brilliant students in the class fail to pay attention most of the times? As students we know what we understand and not. As teachers they know what to teach. When these two are connected, the result is very good. When not, we get the Indian Education System. " Most trends are positive, but my biggest disappointment when it comes to India is the education system. It should be far better. I don't want to be critical, but I do want to create higher expectations about it." - Bill Gates When we look into the secondary school level ed...
